1. Q: What does Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Canada do?

Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment journey.

  1. Q: Why did we choose to create this initiative?

As with many organizations, 2020 has impacted our ability to raise funds in person at galas and auctions. With the need to raise funds for children with critical illnesses required more than ever, we have pulled our prizes together to launch a virtual auction.

  1. Q: Will there be more online prizes added in the future?

All auction prizes will be listed on site from 9:00 am on December 3, 2020.

  1. Q: How long will auction be open?

The auction will run from 9:00 am on Thursday December 3rd until 9 pm EST on Thursday December 10th, 2020.

  1. Q: Do you accept direct donations?

  1. Q: How does an online auction work?

A list of items and experiences being auctioned can be found online via the landing page. The auctions will be open for a period of time determined by Make-A-Wish, subject to change. Participants can bid many times on a given auction item by outbidding the previous offer to try to win the prize or experience. Participants can track the status of the item or experience to see if its bid price has increased. The person with the highest bid when the auction ends will win the prize. For notes on ‘Maximum Bid’ please read at the bottom of this page.

  1. Q: When will the winners be notified?

Once the auctions close, winners will be contacted directly to retrieve payment and confirm delivery details. This will start from Friday December 11th, 2020.

  1. Q: Who is eligible to win prizes?

Any person living in Canada over the age of 18.

  1. Q: If I am under 18 years old, can I still participate?

All participants in the auctions must be 18 years of age or older.

10.Q: Will I have to pay additional fees such as processing and taxes on the prize(s) that I won?

No, credit card processing fees and taxes are included in the price of the winning bid.  Shipping charges may be additional.  Please refer to the section on shipping.

  1. Q: How long would the prize be valid?

The prizes will list a date that they should be redeemed by in the auction listing. Should the prize be experience based, the prize will be valid until the experience can be done safely.

  1. Q: What happens if events are cancelled or fans are not allowed back in venues before the prize can be redeemed?

Make-A-Wish will follow the advice of public health.  Please contact Cynthia Moorcroft on Cynthia.moorcroft@makeawish.ca to determine whether or not you wish to hold your auction prize or release it.

  1. Q: What happens if the prize cannot be offered in the format listed?

The winning bid will be notified of any prize alterations at the time of redemption.  These alterations will be in accordance with public health.

  1. Q: What happens if the business offering the prize is unable to deliver it due to circumstances beyond their control?
